Philosophy Of Ministry

« back to About Us

We believe that the Bible is the word of God concerning faith and life, and that God has created human beings in his image and for his glory. Therefore, we structure our services on the principles found in Scripture. Information gained through medical sources, social science research, and psychology is often helpful in identifying problems and implementing appropriate interventions.

We have several important distinctives.

  • First, we are a unique blend of counseling and christian conciliation (a process leading to reconciliation). This approach serves to identify core issues that are at the root of struggling relationships and then leads parties in a process that restores and heals their relationship.
  • Secondly, we believe the most effective approach is one that is both intensive and comprehensive. We use story telling over a multi-day period to draw out the core issues that need to be resolved. This process is also highly educational, equipping one for better relational skills as we instruct and lead you through transformation in beliefs and actions.
  • Lastly, we believe in the importance of the church and community in helping the process of encouraging and sustaining the necessary changes needed by individuals and couples.

Everyone draws from a set of core beliefs in what they think, feel, say and do. This includes all LAPM staff members.

Because we believe that the Bible is the Word of God concerning faith and life, we strive to base our practices on the principles found in Scripture. Information gained through medical sources, social science research, and psychology is often helpful in identifying problems and appropriate interventions, however all interventions must meet the criteria of biblical faithfulness.

For many people, the traditional model of therapy (one hour a week) unnecessarily prolongs the healing process. LAPM uses both traditional and out-of-the-box processes in helping hurting people. Transformation occurs when individuals commit the needed time to focus on the deeper issues of the heart in a redemptive counseling or conciliation process.

Many of our services, rather than relying on a traditional format, favor an extensive process (extended sessions on a weekly or as-needed basis) or an intensive process (several days back-to-back). LAPM custom-designs all services to meet specific needs.
